Phase 2 & 3 - Middle and Senior School: Learn How to Plan, Teach and Assess Effectively Using Numicon - Venue TBC - AUCKLAND

This half-day course for Phase 2 & 3 teachers is designed to introduce how the Numicon pedagogy supports the NZ curriculum. We will practise using the Numicon equipment to represent mathematical ideas, including percentages, equivalent fractions and to promote explaining and justifying. We will look through the planning materials for Years 4-8 ( Numicon 3-6) to find the development of key mathematical knowledge through the step-by-step, explicit teaching steps. We will discuss how to adapt your teaching to meet the needs of all your learners through the use of formative assessment using the Numicon milestones.
